Men

Today I choose to salute men. They basically just fascinate me. Why? You ask. Well I will tell you in the form of a list...

  1. Leadership. Seriously, I am amazed at the way men are able to be in charge of things. Sometimes tasks look impossible and then men just step up and take responsibility for whatever's going on. It's kind of amazing to me.
  2. Confidence. I know that guys still doubt and stuff, but it's incredible to me how they still do stuff even though they may not feel completely confident. They don't let the fact that they might fail stop them from doing things. And it's really cool to me, because so often, I don't do things because I don't think I can.
  3. They can just do things. I mean really, sometimes it amazes me that my brother just knows how to do things like fix stuff and check things in cars and build things and whatnot. I know that he learned these things just like anybody else would, but it fascinates me that somewhere along the lines he took the initiative to learn these things.

Okay, I know I'm annoying a lot of feminists and bordering on a lot of ridiculous gender role stereotypes and whatnot, but I just want to say that I have been really blessed by my brothers. You know, on both of my projects, I learned a lot about men. Last year, I feel like I learned a lot about having brothers and letting guys care for me in a brother in Christ sort of way and learning to trust guys. This year, I learned a lot about what guys are like and how to appreciate some of the ways they are different from us. And it makes me more and more amazed by the way God made us.

I mean, when I was on project (both times) guys on the team would take kind of responsibility for our safety. You know just watch us and the guys around and make sure everything was ok. And it was amazing to me that they just noticed stuff (half of the time I fail to even recognize dangerous situations) and then put themselves in a position to protect us sort of. (me three years ago would have hated allowing anyone to protect me in any way). THis year, one of the guys on my project just changed the lightbulb in my apt because he noticed it was out. My brother is constantly fixing things of mine and just doing things that I don't even notice. Today, Matt and Will showed up and just like amazingly moved a bunch of stuff, none of which was theirs. It's just kind of incredible to me how giving they were of their time and energy.

So all this is to say, guys, I appreciate you. God has really blessed me with great brothers, both biological and brothers in Christ.

Much love to all of yall.

Read this: it's important

Gotcha! It's not really important at all But I bet I made you read it...and so now you might as well read the rest of my thoughts for the day.

Things that make me smile:

  1. a sunny day with a light breeze
  2. a purple striped skirt that swirls around in the wind and flip flops with rhinestone flowers on them.
  3. the weekend!
  4. The book of Isaiah. I've recently been blown away by all of the wonderful things it says. God's word is just amazing to me sometimes.
  5. The incomprehensible love of my savior.
  6. daisies
  7. working with adorable little kids
  8. being around smiley, kid friendly people all day.
  9. learning about the sovereignty (yeah I totally butchered that spelling) of my God. And being blessed by learning so much new stuff about Him everyday.
  10. Actually finishing the personal vision stuff from project. And learning things about me.
  11. Being blessed with some of the most incredible friends on the planet.
  12. walmart with Kjo. And sneaking funfetti icing...
  13. Elizabeth's willingness to let me process life.
  14. Other Christians at my job.
  15. seeing Sarah Cooper this weekend! and getting a new roommate!

Things that don't make me smile:

  1. all day trainings...
  2. inspirational speeches that are ridiculously corny
  3. the last episode of lost
  4. being really really poor
  5. losing roommates that are loved
  6. missing people
  7. wanting to be multiple places at once
  8. being hyper emotional  (if you saw me yesterday, I apologize just in case...)
  9. hotness outside
  10. exhaustion

Overall, life is good. And there's a smile on my face.

My God is really really good. And he blesses me so much more than I deserve...

Those Things On My Mind that I Decided to Write About...

  • So here I am, 1 day into the whole being an adult thing, and I'm already tired.
  • There's a severe lack of daisies in my life
  • I like Angie. Talking to her yesterday was a big blessing.
  • I can't believe I have a real job.
  • I miss lots of different people right at this moment.
  • I shall conquer this! I shall!
  • I'm hungry.
  • I've been lost in the book of Isaiah a lot lately. It's like I start reading and then I'm mesmerized again.
  • I love having theological conversations. especially those that start with me calling renae to say "hi".
  • I won't always be so poor.
  • God has certainly been good to me.
  • I'm tired, and this is getting boring.
